Every one of us owns a paper bag that says: “There is no Planet B” and that is possibly the most interaction we have with sustainability and the thought of saving this planet. But in this article, we wanted to demolish the common belief that is always afloat among laymen – sustainability means khaki clothes or fashion made out of waste.
We at Payppy have always put sustainability at the core of our culture, values and what we want to follow in years to come. It is a global initiative but more importantly, a dire need for every citizen to be able to save the soil, resources and ecosystem available to us.
Fashion, especially fast fashion has left an irreversible impact on the environment, leaving resources and fabrics exploited. Not only has it slimmed down the life cycle of a cloth, but also encouraged multiple brands to produce more at the cost of human labour harassment, expenditure and extravagant usage of natural resources.
Nevertheless, with the fashion industry finally making moves through the thrift and reuse culture, and with the government getting involved in initiatives, we can count on a better future.
Diving straight into the topic, here are 3 drool-worthy looks that are made from reused materials, blended and up-cycled with existing items and are ready to be worn at multiple events!
- Who said sustainability comes in only khaki and beige?
This co-ord set is made out of multiple fabric cut-outs, still following a beautiful feminine silhouette. Blended in beautiful patterns, this candy-like palette is an eye-catching sight. This look screams freshness, and coolness all in one. We rate this attempt a whopping 11 out of 10! We would want this in our wardrobe, wouldn’t you?
2. Denim, patterns, maximalism- but done well
Nigel Xavier is now a known name in the fashion industry after his winning feat at Next in Fashion Season 2 which streams on Netflix. This look that he is donning is made out of repurposed denim and is perfection when it comes to up-cycled fashion. Gender-neutral look that defines streetwear pop with a hint of what is coming next in fashion. You go, Nigel!
3. Runway ready? Hell yeah!
Run, don’t walk to get a set like this! A cropped, sleeveless zippered top mostly chequered and an asymmetrical skirt that ends just above your ankle. This look is a great way to promote sustainability, and also strut in style wherever you go!
