1. Measure

Their new collection “TOI” is a creative exploration of Dagestan wedding traditions. Dagestan is a multinational southern region of Russia. A mosaic of customs, wedding gifts and garments from the past shapes the design inspiration of the present.

Even though the inspiration is quite beautiful and leans towards culturally modest clothing, we couldn’t find the spark that makes the silhouettes look graceful.

Brownie points for the colours, the palette and bringing a new wave of fashion to Indian fashion weeks. Hope to see more creative designs from this label and wish them the best!

2. Chola the label

Firstly, lovely designs from this label always. The label showcased their collection at the Lakmé Fashion Week show for sustainable day where they take inspiration from a Japanese tea ceremony which is marked by basic 4 principles – Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquility. The celebrated the fusion of fashion and tea culture, embodying confidence, individuality, and empowerment.

Drawing inspiration from the energy of a tea room, paired with metaphorical anecdotes of tea. Throughout the show, the idea was to weave a narrative of empowerment and self-expression, with models of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds on the runway, embodying inclusivity and authenticity. We would rate the collection a 7/10.

3. JJV.Kapurthala

Born from the visionary mind of JJ Valaya, JJV.Kapurthala a bridge-to-luxury label speaks to the discerning traveller who believes in celebrating in style albeit without the burden of heavy embellishments. Inspired by the travelogues of the illustrious Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala, JJV is a homage to a bygone era of opulence and global influences blended into a modern statement.

Beautiful blend of Indian fashion on the runway, with a more minimalistic and modern twist which makes it just the perfect pick for the Gen Z of India! 8/10 for this collection!

4. Kalki fashion

We’re finally talking shoulder pads and geometric silhouettes in Indian wear? Consider us hooked! The colours, the accessories and the harmonious blend of Indian grace and sexiness in a two-piece modern day bridesmaid attire? Cue the oomphs please.

KALKI’s collection INARA blossoms into timeless elegance. In the realm of haute couture, where creativity meets craftsmanship, emerges INARA – a tribute to elegance, sophistication, and the timeless beauty of cherry blossoms, ushering in the essence of spring and the vibrancy of summer. At the heart of INARA lies an exquisite attention to detail. Each garment is meticulously crafted with 3D geometric and floral motifs, creating a symphony of texture and movement reminiscent of cherry blossom petals in the wind. Tassels and fringes dance gracefully, adding a touch of whimsy and allure.

5.  Saaksha Kinni

The collection from Lakmé Fashion Week celebrates life outdoors. The cool ocean breeze gently caresses the skin, the warm touch of sand in your toes, surrendering to the feeling of an endless summer. No noise, no pressure, just an uninterrupted life of leisure. Live it all again with this collection.

The swimwear is a mix of prints and solids – made for the unapologetically bold traveller. The prints used are inspired by ikats, geometric lines and block prints – timeless motifs woven into modern empowering silhouettes. We love how these elements bring a new vibe in Indian resortwear landscape.

6. Urvashi Kaur

The designer’s collections celebrate the significant milestone with a showcase that celebrates innovation, incisive disruption, and the power of collective impact. This experience was a reflection of the past 15 years and a testament to our commitment to create safe spaces for individuals to express themselves authentically.

Urvashi Kaur’s latest collection, “Prāna”; an extension of its ongoing “Renew” project. Reimagining ancestral heirlooms as new silhouettes, the collection revived these one-of-a-kind textiles, intuitive in placement, organic in movement and elemental in colours. We love this collection because it shows the amazing marriage of old and new in a renewed manner. Love love love!

7. Rahul Mishra

The name Rahul Mishra isn’t new if you follow fashion closely. This visionary designer showcases his collections at the biggest international fashion weeks and has been making the Indian name proud.

With this collection, Rahul Mishra looks at his constant muse i.e. nature as the ultimate sculptor and artist. The collection appreciates otherwise simple natural forms for their structural personality through a sculptor’s lens.Envisioned in bright solid hues and graphic textures, the inspiration reveals itself in rigid but organic installations of natural forms that consist of vegetal and animal motifs.

8. Yash Gada

Another exception designer on the Lakmé Fashion Week launchpad this year, Yash Gada collection called Dhagedaar Denim, the 1970s, denim fashion emerged as an emblematic expression of individualism and experimentation.

This collection is giving us life, because look at the retro vibes that can rock any party and make heads turn! A solid 9/10 for this collection!

9. Archana Rao

Archana Rao’s collection, ‘Sun and Moon’ draws inspiration from the contrasting elements of the sun and moon, highlighting their stark differences, while also celebrating the inherent harmony between them. “Less is More” is a concept this collection feels strongly about, guiding the creation of minimalist yet impactful pieces.

We’re so in for an innovative men’s wear fashion led by minimalism and a palette that soothes the eyes in summer. We find this a perfect Summer-spring 2024 collection and we rate it a 9.75/10. Bravo!

10. Skechers India

The collection is a neoteric assemblage by Skechers that embodies a fusion of retro futuristic imagery, glitch art, lo-fi aesthetics, and a sense of longing for the past era, while also commenting on the present and rapid advancement of technology and consumer culture.

This is drip, cool and so Gen Z! The colours, the larger than life inflated graphics, the styling with the leather trousers and of course the footwear, makes it a perfect gen z ensemble and we are drooling over thie collection. 10/10, periodt.

11. Jaywalking

Everything about this Jaywalking collection is addictive. No, seriously. The silhouettes are so international. It’s like a new wave of fashion in men’s wear is coming and Jaywalking is proudly leading the game.

The menswear fashion in India was conservative for a very long time but with brands like Jaywalking, we can see new colours, graphics and styles come to play. So cool, again a 10/10 collection!

Drumrolls please, our favourite collection and the hottest designs seen this year on the Lakmé Fashion Week runway were by…

12. Deme

Talk about sheer, about the most feminine designs, colours and the structures. Everything about this collection is top notch. Deme’s collection draws its inspiration from the dreamy realm between wakefulness and slumber, where the sun’s warmth embraces your skin and salty waves playfully dance around you. Ice cream, a mischievous companion, gleefully escapes down your hand, leaving a sticky trail of joy. The sun-kissed glow, like a secret shared with the cosmos, radiates as one splashes their face with ice water, preparing for an evening of whimsical dinner and silk-clad dancing beneath the celestial tapestry.

We love how ready-to-wear this collection is and the balance between wearable and fashionable in the Indian landscape is struck beautifully by the designer. In awe. 11/10. Clearly the winner of this fashion week!
